Welcome All the Children by greeting each one of them. Ask them how the
week was; how the school/Exams/home
was; Ask them about their: Parents: friends; teachers: ask them the activities
they did during the week etc
Do a recap of last week’s lesson. Ask the children e.g. (Who was the
Biblical Character? Memory Verse? The

TEXT:Isa 58:6-7{58:6} [Is] not this the fast that
I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and
to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? {58:7} [Is it] not
to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out
to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou
hide not thyself from thine own flesh(body)?

Objective: Teach and Help the children understand why we Fast/benefits of
fasting and Praying

deliverance from sins,unwanted habits and behaviours,actions that are not
pleasing our God,teachers,parents,friends,classmates,neighbours e.t.c(let the
children give you examples of such habits)(Jonah 3)

BIBLICAL CHARACTER :JONAH AND THE PEOPLE OF NINEVEH- Jonah3
God was very unhappy with the
city of Nineveh because of the sins they did before him and he wanted to
destroy/finish all of them. But because God is full of Mercy and Love for His
people,he sent Jonah to go and tell the people of Nineveh that in the next 40
days,God would finish them if they did not repent and stop doing bad things and sins.
What did the people of Nineveh
do? They listened to Jonah and Believed
what God had told them. They announced a
fast for all people and all their animals.
They also prayed and cried to God for forgiveness of their bad habits, behaviors
and sins and God heard them and did not
destroy them.
