Who is an entrepreneur?

People who are able to identify opportunities and turn them into successful businesses are referred to as entrepreneurs.

An entrepreneur is someone who identifies a need and develops and implements a way of meeting that need. Meeting the need usually involves the creation of a small business enterprise. An entrepreneur is someone who is always looking for new opportunities!

Entrepreneurs have the ability to identify new products or services, use new ways of producing products or services and develop new ways of marketing their ideas, products or services.

Entrepreneurs are good at finding the resources to take their idea and turn it into a winning business.

How to get started in a business

How to get started in a business -Lesson 1

        This training  aims to provide  practical advice on how to get started in a business,

        assessing whether we  have what it takes to identify a business  idea,

        how to analyse whether the idea is a feasible business opportunity, and

        if so, to turn it into reality!

        It highlights the steps you have to take to get started.

The following are the  five stages of the entrepreneurial process, along with the individual traits and behaviours associated with the successful entrepreneur.

Stage 1:                  Discovery
The stage in the entrepreneurial process in which the entrepreneur generates ideas, recognizes opportunities, and determines the feasibility of ideas, markets, ventures, etc. 

Stage 2: Concept Development
The stage in the entrepreneurial process in which the entrepreneur plans the venture, identifies needed resources using a business plan, identifies strategies .to protect intellectual property, etc.

Stage 3: Resourcing
The stage in the entrepreneurial process in which the entrepreneur identifies and acquires the financial, human, and capital resources needed for the venture start up, etc.

Stage 4: Actualization
The stage in the entrepreneurial process in which the entrepreneur operates the venture and utilizes resources to achieve its goals/objectives.

Stage 5: Harvesting
The stage in the entrepreneurial process in which the entrepreneur decides on the venture's future (growth, development, demise).

Prophetic Focus: “I AM RIDING THE WAVES OF GLORY BY THE HOLY SPIRIT.  Joel 2:21-27

TOPIC: UNDERSTANDING THE MISSION/WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT/GHOST *(Part 3)

Do a recap of last Sunday’s lesson. Ask the children e.g. What happened on the day of pentecost?you can sing the song of the Spirit is moving again x2 like the day of Pentecost the Spirit is moving again)(Who was our Biblical Character? Memory Verse? The songs we sang last Sunday.

TEXT:ACTS 2:4 All(Disciples)(You can ask the children to write down all the disciples of Jesus then pick the papers for marking and bring them next week-the children should write down their names on the papers)  were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them

BIBLICAL CHARACTER:(the parable   of the Sower (Mark 4:1-14 Read the Parable together with the children and point the following important points:-a)as the farmer was planting the seeds, some fell along the paths: the birds came and ate them b)some fell on rocky places with little soil: sprang up quickly but when the sun came, they withered/dried c)other seeds fell among thorns: grew up: chocked the plants: did not bear d)some seeds fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a harvest (explain to the children what the different parts of the parable refer to Mark 4:13-20)

MEMORY VERSE:

Acts 1:8 But you shall receive power after that the Holy Spirit is come upon you and you shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and in Samaria and to the ends of the earth..

Objective: Teach and Help the children understand the mission/work of the Holy Ghost/Spirit.

WHAT IS THE WORK/MISSION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT/GHOST?

1.        Reaping the Harvest(souls)in the Kingdom through us(as  we witness)

-the Holy Spirit gives us words in witnessing Christ –when we tell our friends,schoolmates,deskmates about Christ, the Holy Spirit in us gives us what to tell them Eph 6:16

-The Holy Spirit gives us power to preach /talk about Jesus to others (Acts 1:8:Acts 2:4)

Reward: witnessing for Christ gives us power/Strength and Authority  to overcome any  challenges in life(ask the children to give examples of some of the issues they come across on a day to day basis e.g. when in school, at home, with friends e.t.c.

2.The Holy Spirit is the Weapon of Victory(Luke 10:19)

The Holy Spirit is our defense/shield/fights for us the battles of life(ask children what a shield is: have a small skit to make it clear for all of them)

 -The Holy Spirit gives us the right words for victory 2 Cor 2:14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him

BIBLICAL TRUETH:The  Holy Spirit in us makes us Winners/Victors in all things

Becoming an entrepreneur is a fun yet scary proposition. Often, entrepreneurs go against the advice of their friends and family members, in order to follow their dreams and pursue their passion. However, making that leap is a rocky road.

Here are four action steps that you can take right now to make the journey less bumpy:

1. Develop a Personal Mission Statement

A challenging yet exciting thing about entrepreneurship is that you are inundated with ideas and opportunities, but to be effective, you need to choose the ones that work best with what you want out of your life. Create a personal mission statement that will act as a decisive filter.

For example, my personal mission statement is "to become a tycoon politically, socially, and economically so that I may have a positive impact on my community." When developing your own, you must ask yourself two questions: What core things are most important to you? Why are those things important? Your answers will help you figure out how to accomplish your goals. Remember that your personal mission statement is not set in stone, so tweak it accordingly as your life's priorities change.

2. Reduce Your Expenses

One of the main reasons many people don't start businesses is because they're afraid of losing their home, car, ability to provide for their families, etc. But the ultimate goal is to generate big wins while reducing your expenses.

A solution to this is to cut your expenses down to the necessities. You don't need to make your life miserable, but simply review your expenses and find affordable alternatives—starting with the most expensive item. Do you really need to pay $1000 per month in rent, or can you share an apartment with a friend to save money? Actively cut those excessive expenses and recalibrate yourself to your new lifestyle. The more responsibility and expenses that you have, the harder it will be for you to take on the entrepreneurial mind set.

3. Create a Synthetic Family of Networks

Don't worry about whether you come from a rich and well-connected family or not. There are plenty of successful entrepreneurs who came from very little. What is often overlooked, however, are the key people who helped give them that additional push or extra opportunity. They created their synthetic family of networks.

A synthetic family is not the family you were born with, but one that you created who help provide the resources you need to accomplish your goals.

4. Take an Inventory of Your Current Assets

People often speak of the 4 grades that really matter

a. Personal Capital – How well do you know yourself?

b. Intellectual Capital – What do you know?

c. Social Capital – Who do you know and who knows you?

d. Financial Capital – Who knows that you know what you know?

Before you make that leap to entrepreneurship, take a hard look at where you stand across these four dimensions:
